Why does Time come out with Top 10 lists before the year is over?

Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme was left out, along with Caylee Anthony's body being found and the Santa Claus killer. Gee, maybe waiting until the first week of January is a good time to release the Top 10 issue?

1. Bernie's ponzi scheme was nothing compared to the one Obama is laying down. Perhaps Time knows this. You sure didn't.
2. Dead lines. Maybe they ran out of Time.
3. The publishers wanted to get the edition with the Top 10 list out before the end of the year. So blame the deadline. Happens every year.
