what would you put on a wedding registry list?

i'm setting up mine, and as we already share a flat we don't need standard things (we have plates, pans, sheets....) so i've currently come up with an ice-cream maker, something we've always wanted!

  1. I would put things that I need or want. Like Picture frames, wine glasses, blender, gift cards (they are wonderful) things like that. I know I had everything when we got married. I didnt do a registry. I didnt have a big wedding in the first place. But that is what I would do.
  2. The ice cream maker is a wonderful start! Start adding other things that you don't have. Gift cards are great to add for those people that don't want to get you this or that. Even add things that you have that you might need more of or a new set of (sheets, plates, flatware etc.)
  3. An ice cream maker is a good one! I'd have nice towels and bedding but the jewel of the list would have to be a stand-alone mixer (like the ones the chefs have on tv)!
  4. Remember that this is the one time in your life when for some unexplained reason friends and family will be more generous than you can possibly realise. A new set of bedding is always nice. Look at it and you might be surprised at how tired your pillows are. Really nice sets of wine glasses are a fantastic gift and it you are concerned about the amount that they cost, then split it down into pairs to make it more affordable for people. The same goes for dinner sets. These are the sorts of things that you will have with you for life. People will always buy photo frames as wedding presents, so don't put that down. Or you could do what we did. Have a small wedding list (we were in a similar position to you) and asked people to donate towards our honeymoon. We were stunned at how generous people were and it meant that we had some spending money for the honeymoon.
  5. Upgrade. If you have old kitchen appliances and utensils. You could always donate your old ones. Upgrade your sheets to high thread count luxury sheets! Drapes and blinds are good items. If you have hobbies you could add that too. We like camping so we added camping gear. People normally have everything they need these days so registries will not look like your mothers! Just add things you want, whether they are traditional or not.
  6. I was in the same situation when I got married. I registered for things like nice wine goblets, fancy candlestick holders and a crystal vase. I think once you start registering that you will find more items that you will want.
  7. A few ideas: - Upgrade your current items or worn-out items. Things like new sheets, new pillows, new flatware or artwork. - Do a honeymoon registry where your guests donate money towards your honeymoon. - Do a small registry of home items and also give guests the option to give a charity donation to your favorite cause.
