  1. Just a few sites which are out there: http://projectbritain.com/ at: http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/index.htm I hope this power point presentation gets through: http://collection.cross-edu.ru:81/catalog/res/d8f9946d-5e70-93a7-0b5c-1090e2633465/view/ Britannia and John Bull are not discussed there, but here is a good discussion of them: http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-64910240.html

  3. Good Lord! Have we come to this? That's a pretty mess and no mistake! What happened to the stiff upper lip? Listen, old boy. Most of these questions can be answered by Googling. Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves, Britons, never, never ever shall be slaves - except when we're running behind those USA upstarts. The Lion is a symbol of British ability to stick to their guns. The Flag of the Union (not the Union Jack) is the combination of the flags of St. George (patron saint of England), St. Andrew (patron saint of Scotland) and St. Patrick (patron saint of Ireland). Britishness also involves accepting all those coloured gentlemen, just as long as they understand that Britannia rules. Maybe that's not PC, but for me being British means acceptance. We once had the biggest empire in the world, and we lost it, but the damage which was done has to be accepted. It should be British not to walk away from those problems.
  4. There are the obvious symbols of Britishness; Britannia, the C=ck and Lion; the Union Jack, etc. There are also the cultural symbols IE; food, anarchy, Public Houses, Parliament, sport, literature, theatre and customs, seaside post cards, etc. which are also peculiar to the British Isles. Try sampling a bit of both to explain the diversities of it.
