The patriot act is in clear violation of the U.S constitution and the bill of rights, some examples of how Patriot act under minds civil liberties and constitutional rights of the American people. The First Amendment ,"Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech" the patriot act requires public workers, turn over book lists and Internet records at the unwarranted request of the FBI , cooperation is mandatory and under penalty of imprisonment the public worker may not reveal existence of the FBI request. The basic right to privacy is clearly violated here also. The Fourth Amendment "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures".The patriot act allows for the illegal search of your home and property, without your knowledge or consent and completely with out search warrant or probable cause.This allows law enforcement officer's to secretly break and enter into any home and gather private information about that person and confiscate property, private property rights are again destroyed in the patriot act The Fifth Amendment guarantees "no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law" the patriot act allows for you to be incarcerated indefinitely, without the right to lawyer, without right to face your accuser with out access to a court, and without due process of law, guaranteed in the bill of rights., this infect violates the sixth amendment which guarantees right to speedy and public trail.It also violates 8th amendment and 13th amendment against "cruel and unusual punishment" and no one being punished unless being properly convicted first. now add in also President Bush signing executive orders giving him sole authority to impose martial law, suspend habeas corpus. John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 which was signed by President Bush on October 17th, 2006, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder." Military Commissions Act of 2006 eliminates protections against unlawful imprisonment, convictions based on coerced evidence, violations of due process It also gives any president the power to declare on his or her own who is an enemy combatant, decide who should be held indefinitely without being charged with a crime and define what is torture. We think we can do nothing about it. It's like when someone flashes a paper over your eyes, then tells you to sign it. You do it, without questioning figuring this person won't do you wrong. Then next thing you know you've sold your rights and values to someone else. So as Americans do, we figure there's nothing we can do and simply let it keep happening. What we do need is a revolution, like our founders did. [I'll probably be kidnapped and forced to waterboarding cause of this] =P
Because the majority of people are sheep. They don't do their own research and just believe what they told, which by the way is told by the same people responsible for everything. The Patriot Act CLEARY strips citizens of their rights. It redefines the term terrorist to now be any person who commits a crime. Even a misdemeanor is considered an act of terrorism which means you could be legally detained indefenitely without access to a lawyer or a trial. You could be tortured and do nothing about it, because you are a "terrorist". President Bush has granted himself the ability to instate Martial Law in the US for any reason. We are one incident away from Martial Law and believe me, they will create it very soon. They're already mobilizing the military. There's videos of the military in various suburbs across the nation "training" which entails randomly pulling over citizens and searching vehicles. Marching through the neighborhoods stopping people, asking for identification, all in the name of the "War of Terror" We need to wake up now and stop what is happening... The fight for freedom continues!!!
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Four Fathers of our great nation, created a "Checks and Balance". Three Branches of the government with equal powers. The Executive Branch should never over power the people's will (Representatives); nor over preach the powers of the law; represented by the Supreme Court. The Patriot Act, gives absolute powers to the President to cancel out the US Constitution. Without the US Constitution; we are liken to a sail ship without its mass. People in the US have been being feed the waste product of the aluminum industry "flouride" in the water system attacking the penil gland in the brain for well over 50 years. Notice only Australia and the US are the only countries adding it to they're public water supply. China and Japan stopped using it back in the 70s. YOUR RANT...overlooks the fact that no where in there does it allow for INTERNATIONAL communication with KNOWN terrorist groups and their affilliates...if you READ the act rather than listening to moveon.org you would learn this and see it DOES NOT violate the Constitution....But dont let little things like FACTS confuse you.
I'm outraged! This putrid little man usurps the Constititution, and one would think that by now he would have been impeached for it, or at least, that his attempt would have been struck down. But the complacency of most Americans is not surprising to me: some actually support Bush, some are afraid of him, and most are simply too self-absorbed to worry about what happens in Washington, D.C.
Personally, the thought that people like you are trying to work with politics scare me. If you have read the Constitution of the United States. As well as the Patriot Act, you wouldn't ask such a retearded question. One of the most important expressed/implied powers of Congress is the Elastic Clause. Also known as the Necessary and Proper Clause. Article I, Section 8: "Congrees shall make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof." The president also has the power to issue executive orders as he seems fit. Congress has a check on that power ad can override him at any given minute if they want to. So, if you really want to rag on the government, why don't you look into it a little bit next.

Enormous...Wow...Bet you didn't know that one part of the "Patriot" act is the fact that they can not make public that they have been targeted or they will be charged with more crimes. That includes the fact that they can not face their accusers in a court of law. Hmm...No wonder we haven't heard about people coming forward. To answer the question asked, I couldn't agree more with you. People don't have a clue what rights that they are guaranteed with the Constitution and Bill of Rights, because of this they don't understand what they are losing by letting the President do what they want. They think that Nazi Germany could never happen here in the states because they think that they are protected. Give up liberties for protection, well, then you deserve neither.
