My mom really wants me to go to prom, but I really don't want to go. Should I go?

I don't want to disappoint her, but I have other priorities and prom's at the end of the list. We really don't have a lot of money at the moment and prom cost a lot. I have college to worry about, yearbook, and I still have to pay my school fees. Right now prom isn't that high on the list.

  1. I think you would be happier if you went to Prom. It is an experience in life that is good to have been to whether it ends up good or bad. It is better than never knowing what would have happened.
  2. You only get one chance to go to prom. You can have lots of oppertunitties to do other things.
  3. Even though prom isn't high on your list of priorities, it is something that only happens once in your life. True there will be other proms but it won't be YOUR prom, you know what I mean? Anyway, just go and have fun. It'll be like your last hurrah before graduation. Think of it as something that will signify the end of your high school career, the end of all the high school awkwardness and drama. Besides graduation of course. A few years later you'll look back and be glad that you actually had that experience. I mean, would rather have something special to reminisce later on in life or the feeling of regret and the what could have been questions running through your head?
  4. I think that you would regret it later on if you miss this. Plus, money is just money. It cant make up for the memories you can lose. I think it would be worth it if you go .
  5. if you don't want to go, don't. my mother wanted me to have a sweet 16 party. i didn't. do i regret it? not in the least. my prom was a disappointment. take care of your other priorities.
  6. You should go! You wouldn't want to regret it later in life... enjoy the experience of it all. Literally once in a life time deal. You will always have other stressors in life after High school, so take that night and relax before it all ends ;)
  7. Well you got to think, you can only go to things like Prom a couple times in your life and then you can't do it again. If you want to go then go but, if you don't then don't waste your time or money. If you do end up going then do not think you will have a bad time, you have to go in there with fun thoughts.
  8. If you don't want to go, then you shouldn't go only just because someone else wants you to. I didn't go to prom and, frankly, I'm glad I didn't. I really don't know what the big fuss is about it anyway; your life will be just fine if you don't go.
  9. I think you have your head on your shoulders straight, since you know that prom is not the most important thing in the world, but on the other hand do you think this might be something you will regret. The prom is a once in a lifetime event. When you get older and your daughter asks you what it was like when you went to the prom, and you say well I didn't go to the prom, because I didn't have time for it.. will you feel sad that you skipped this moment. If not, then I suppose you shouldn't go. If going to the prom is so expensive that you will sacrifice going to college, then I would say, "Don't be an idiot, and skip the prom." If you would have to put a few more hours in at work to afford a dress though, then do it... It's a night that is usually worth remembering, even if you don't have a date.. Hope that helps, good luck making up your mind. :)
