Now that Dan Brown is finally off the best seller lists, isn't it about time for him to finish another book?

Seriously, this guy occupied the bestseller lists for literally years after the Da Vinci code came out, and then people bought his earlier books to put them on the bestseller lists. It's been what, at least 4 years since the Da Vinci Code came out. Hasn't he milked it long enough and when will he come out with his next book? I'm sure it'll put him on the bestseller lists for another couple of years again. Robertizimo - That's why it's called "Fiction."

  1. why do you care?
  2. He is probably making up fantasy stories for a new one, The Da Vinci Code got at least two things right: two things and that is all, London is in England, and Paris is in France, the rest is just a pile of slice baloney. (caca)
  3. He is working on one. It is from what I have heard, a very complex book about a very secretive subject - Freemasonry. It has taken him a good deal of time to research it -- something I try very hard to stress to young authors here. You don't just jump into a book. Building up contacts in a secretive group like the Freemasons takes a great deal of time. As does doing the research on their history. Unfortunately, Mr. Brown lost a lot of time in England fighting that absurd lawsuit - time away from his work. In addition, the thought of another book must be hanging over his head like the weight of the world. The last thing he wants if for the critics to say "What happened to Dan Brown? The Da Vinci Code did so well and now this one stinks". It is a terrible burden on him. As a result, he has passed up a couple deadlines and continues to work. I wish him the best. I fully understand his problems and I am sure he will resolve them. This is a massive undertaking. I have tried for years to understand Freemasonry and I don't think I have been able to scratch the surface. That is why I have not written the book I had in mind on the subject. I just couldn't crack the surface enough to learn enough. This should be a lesson to all novice authors. Look what this man is putting into research for this book. It is incredible. He is a very meticulous and precise author who leaves no stone unturned. I applaud him for that and I cannot wait for The Solomon Key to come out. Pax - C
  4. Particularly, when you have already written some bestsellers, it is no easy feat to produce another book of a similar quality. The pressure is immense. Not to mention, research can be very time consuming. An author doesn't milk a book. What's he supposed to do, say to the booksellers "Okay, it's been successful enough now - stop selling it." If you've tried writing a novel yourself, you'll appreciate that it's not quite as easy as one might think.
