Can we go cheap on Ipods?

Some things I here it's good to find nice cheap things (Gas, cars, etc.) if you know what to look for. Other things may not be so good... (Xbox 360s, computers.) What about mp3 players / ipods? Can I go online to find a good deal? I don't care about scratches all too much but if they work, can I trust buying it online on ebay or crag's list?

1. maybe ebay will have good deals but usually ipods are always the same price they never go on sale i wish they did.
