New York vs. Chicago?

Which city do you like better? I am looking at these cities to go to college in, so far, I've only been to chicago, and I loved it. I really liked DePaul University, mainly because of the area, Lincoln Park. It was pretty cool.. but I'm worried that it might not be a big enough city... I've never been to NY, but I think that I would really like it. any thoughts? Thanks a lot! oh, and please list a few likes and dislikes. I also plan to go into business/international business if that helps at all. Thanks again!!!

  1. I prefer New York. But you are worried that Chicago might not be big enough? The city has 2.8 Million people, and the metropolitan area has ten million! How many people do you need?
  2. I've never been to New York, but Chicago is cool. And what the heck are you talking about it not having enough people? It's the 3rd largest city in the country!
  3. I'm a chicago girl myself. De Paul is one of the leading schools. I would go to chicago for a couple of reasons. the weather cold but not as bad as NY. cost of Living is a little less. you can live in some of the burbs and just hop the train. Once you graduate then see about NY. you will have more money and be able to afford more. Best of luck
  4. both cities are trash holes infested with filth and crime
  5. You should be more worried about the college not the city. You will be on campus all the time. You will have little time to go out into the city. Chicago is huge, not big enough for what?
  6. I'd say New York has a slight edge in terms of international business, but I'd strongly recommend you visit before committing to study there. The people who love it really love it, but for some folks (even those who live in other cities), New York goes past "big" and into "overwhelming."
  7. I personally LOVE New York City, but would think very closely about going to school there. Many of the top schools are private and so will cost you a ton of money. I myself do plan on moving to New York in the near future for work experience but I wouldn't consider it for education unless I was positive I could afford it, and even then I would likely consider other options before deciding on a school in the city. I have not been to Chicago but have always wanted to go there, I would choose a school in Chicago, or a school outside of the city that still had a decent reputation academically.
