Does being in a homeless shelter help to get your Section 8 faster?

I am on the St. Louis city section 8 waiting list. I now live in a homeless shelter. Will this help to get a voucher quicker? They usually have transitional housing available for the people in the shelter, but lately there's been no funds for this. I can only live in here for six weeks. I am gettin desperate.

1. I wish it did, but that isn't the case. Unfortunately, it is first come- first served. You might want to look for other ways to get transitional housing. There may be a church or other community group in STL that can help you out. If you have a job, there may be an affordable studio or efficiency apartment nearby. Don't forget about HUD, either. I wish you the best of luck- I hope you are able to make it through this difficult period in your life.
