What's worth more, Lexile or Points when talking about Summer Reading List for High School?

So, I'm going to the high school Mallard Creek, and they have a summer reading list there. Now I'm confused, what's worth more? Lexile or Points? One kid in my neighborhood says points but my friend says lexile.

1. Well, first off, what's the difference as i'm completly clueless to what you're talking about, you might want to elaborate on points and lexile and how that relates to your summer reading. Sincerly, a very confused person who has no idea what lexile or points are.
2. My school has this reading program on the computer called Reading Counts and it also deals with the points and lexile junk. Lexile is kinda like your reading level and points is how many points the book is worth and the school requires you to earn so many for a grade. Points are more important. I can't believe your school didn't explain this to you. lol
