I'm putting together my summer reading list and need some suggestions!?
I want to read a variety of genres. Some of my favorites include Janet Evanovich, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Of Mice and Men. I don't enjoy Sci Fi at all and would like to fit in a few classics too. Any suggestions will help!

- jodi picoult has many great books written like my sisters keeper the pact and the tenth circle
- American Gods by Neil Gaiman Collected works of Edgar Allan Poe Red Prophet by Orson Scott Card The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas (The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas, also known in English as Epitaph for a Small Winner) by Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis
- The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Abigail's Journey (this is free as a PDF online... just google it! It's VERY long but very good. Written by a Christian author, so there are no graphically adult themes, but some mature subject content that is not described in detail. VERY moving and inspiring story.)
- Try Jane Austin Novels they rock!!!
- Well, I think everyone should read "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.
- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
- Wuthering Heights, I'm in love with it, but a really good one that we just read in my class is The Outsiders, which is a very enjoyable book. My all-time favorite, The Other Boleyn Girl, is unfortunately not appropraite. SO I'd go with The Outsiders, Hound of the Baskervilles, and Fahrenheit 451.
- stephen king?
- Read a couple of genres. I suggest trying at least one sci-fi, you never know, you might like it. Classic/Romance-Withering Heights/Frakenstein Classical Roman/Greek- The Illiad and the Odyssey Romance-any really lol Erotica- The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty Children's Book- Harry Potter Horror- Dracula/Frakenstein Spiritual/Religious- Taken Action/Adventure- The Bournce Supremacy Drama-Flowers in the Attic Ect, ect
- How about: Catcher in the Rye Brave New World(its kinda sci fi but not really, its a classic) 1984 any of the Harry Potter series(I know they are meant for kids, but they are well written) The Giver Tuck Everlasting That's all I can think of for now, happy reading!! PS...sorry for not including authors, I just can't think of them right now.
- 1984 by: George Orwell Pride and Prejudice by: Jane Austen Oliver Twist by: Charles Dickens Here is a good website for classic books: http://www.lifeoptimizer.org/2007/10/12/48-classic-books-to-boost-your-learning-experience/
- The Painted Veil and/or The Razor's Edge by W. Somerset Maugham
- Stuart Woods writes fast paced, funny mysteries. Makes for a great summer read (though I'm usually unable to put his books down, so I read through them pretty quickly : )
- Janet Evanovich? For classics how about: Catcher in the Rye, by JD Salinger Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway Contemporary Literary Fiction: Inheritance of Loss, by Kiran Desai Any novel by Ian McEwan, Nick Hornby, Paul Auster, Zadie Smith, Cormac McCarthy, Richard Yates Quick Good Fun Read: And God Created the Au Pair, by Pascale Smets and Benedicte Newland Skinny, by Ibi Kaslik In the Woods by, Tana French Not a fan of these but since you like Janet Evanovich: If Looks could kill by, Kate White The Beach House by, James Patterson Well those are just some few recommendations.
- apart from 'The Corinthian' most of the books suggeste by other people are just the classics, and while necessary reading material, if you are on vacation i would tell you not to read wuthering heights. as well unless you have time to analyse properly a classic it is not worth reading. There are vacation books and learning books. If i was to suggest books that are at the same time modern classics, and yet you do not need to write notes to evaluate at the end i would tell you to go and get: -catch 22 - by i forget the author, a funny look at the second world war, wanted to laugh and cry, cliche but amazinly true. -Alex garland - THe beach. i believe a necessary book to read in our time and place, about a boy finding utopia on a tiny community on a beach in thailand, my description cannot give it justice. -Anything by Chuck Palahniuk. My favourite author and if not already tried, a definite must. i would start with fight club, dont be dissuaded by previous pre concieved thoughts on him. -One flew over the cuckoos nest - Ken kesey. even if you have seen the film, the book will blow you away. -If you want something more complex i would try either Don Delillo or Saul Bellow, both some of the top american contemporary authors.
- I love all of Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella's books. I am in the process of reading Emily Giffins books now. They are really great authors.
- atonement - really enjoyed down and out in paris and london - reading at the moment really enjoying it sepultre - Kate Mosse - is really interesting and i wicked book perks of being a wall flower - really great book xx
