Where can i find the list of books banned by my school?
I have searched my school's web site, of course. Majority of books that my classes read are on the 100 most banned books list so i was curious if there was a site that you could look up a specific school to see if they even ban books.

- uh what school do you go to genius and have you checked your school's website? Also, for a school to ban certain books sounds pretty stupid to me. It'd just encourage kids to bring those particular books just to act rebellious. That's what I would do at any rate. God your school is SO retarded. Who bans BOOKS? I thought the government WANTED to get kids reading!!
- Yeah I agree with the above, Mikey. Why would you ban a book? I mean, what are ya gonna do with it? Can't smoke a book.
- Ask your school librarian. I assume you're referring to the American Library Association's list of the most frequently challenged books of the century. (If not, that's the authoritative list. You can easily Google it.) It's important to note the difference between a "challenged" book and a "banned" book. Books are rarely banned from school libraries altogether. In fact, the US Supreme Court has ruled that schools cannot ban books expect for strong educational reasons. (For example, even though people often object to Twain's "Huck Finn" as being racist, your school cannot ban it from the library. Your teacher may be required to offer an alternative book to read though.) A "challenged" book simply means a formal complaint has been made against it. Your school librarian is almost definitely familiar with the ALA's challenged books list. Ask him or her if anyone has made complaints about those books and how they respond to that. I doubt there is a published list pertaining to your school, because as I said, they're probably not "banned." Hope that helps!
