Is it safe to to send items on sale on Craig's list to buyers that are not in your state?

I am currently selling a laptop for $325.00 on Craig's List, I have a women who is offering me $600.00 to send it to a friend in St. Louis. This is my first transaction on Craig's List and I think it's a little odd that she is offering me so much for it. The offer would cover the initial cost of the laptop plus shipping and she wants me to send it through the post office. Any advice would be great. Thanks!!

1. If you have the money in hand, go ahead and send it. If not, then I'd realize that you are taking a very large risk of not being paid.
2. This is a scam. Any time someone offers you an overpayment, you can assume the check is counterfeit. For more information, go to www.fakechecks.org, which is run by the U.S. Postal Inspection Agency. Stay local and be safe.
3. SCAM. The check will be fake. The rule of thumb with Craigslist is only deal locally.
