Got ripped off buying something off of Craig's List, can I do anything?
I bought a water distiller off of Craig's List. Before I bought it, I asked the lady if she had had any problems with it, and she said no it worked fine. I have email records of the conversation. I picked it up, paid her for it in cash, and tried it as soon as I got home; it didn't work. So, what can I do?

- ask for your money back. tell her you'll hire a lawyer.
- did you fill it with water? besides what was wrong with just using the tap?
- nothing Craig's list has a buyer beware policy
- You can ask for the money back, if that does not work then you can file a small claims case against the seller, craigslist is just the portal, you will have to deal with the seller.
- write to Obama= he'll fix it for you
- If you paid cash and picked it up, it was a local purchase, and is covered by the law of your state, unless you crossed a state line for the transaction, in which case it was in her state. If she is not a dealer in water coolers or a commercial/business entity, you probably are not entitled to legal fees, costs and double or treble damages, but you may be able to file a claim in small claims court in her state. Make sure you followed the instructions for use properly, and can prove it is not working.
