Do the people on Y/A Answers politics section know that President Obama tops the list of the most respected?

leaders? "President Barack Obama has catapulted past the Dalai Lama as the most respected world leader among West Europeans and Americans, according to a poll released Friday." International Herald Tribune Celebrate - I believe your response is to another question I asked early. I hear you and it is a point well made. Thank you.

  1. That's understandable as he's new at this. Give it a few years and it may change. Then again,I don't put much stock in what Europe thinks,as they gave us Hitler,Stalin,Franco,Mussolini.
  2. Goes to show the people read media crap & know nothing about politics.
  3. How will you feel when your paper money is worth ZERO dear?
  4. Yes but he is still in his honeymoon period. Once a few of his poor policy positions are enacted and do the opposite of what they are intended to do this will change radically.
  5. I'll answer this like I have seen so many times on here: "He's only been in office a few weeks." My question to you is, what has he accomplished in that short amount of time to become the "most respected leader?"
  6. Most Muslims and terrorist approve of Obama... why is that?
  7. I think this is a place that people pay to have people who are against the country. Maybe the same people who pay Rush Limbaugh. I have watched people who are so intelliegent & could make this such a great place for people to really learn the truth clearly, jut leave here. They have either given up or felt cheapened by the amount of cheap questions on here. I know they have received unfair violation notices & just decided not to waste there time. I have learned a lot from certain people but they are gone & too few like them are still here. Yes, they know it all to well & they are disturbed by this.
  8. Hes like a breath of long awaited and long overdue fresh air after 8 years of The Evil Cabal, W. Bush administration...
  9. YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME BUT YOU CAN'T KEEP IT UP FOR EVER.
  10. who owns the international herald times?
  11. That and 75 cents would buy me a bag of potato chips. There's nothing of substance to justify the respect. Goes to show how shallow those who were polled are.
  12. 16 days, buddy. Calm down. Once people realize he is a black theology Marxist, they will not like him anymore.
  13. Hitler was most respected at one time also
  14. How can they say that when he has been in office less than a month? He has not even accomplished anything important yet. He professes to want to do so much for the people and here he is traveling around with this family and spending time at Camp David. Typical politician.
  15. I know what you are saying. I wish you had a link to that poll. I could use it for that one UK editorial that puts Obama down and the posters act like it is the view of everyone in the UK. And I agree with Celebrate too. I think it is a shame that intelligent people are wrongly violated all the time. I had to set my settings to private and carefully screen anyone that becomes my fan for just that reason. And he signed an Equal Pay bill, Schip child health bill, capped his own staff's salaries, and fought hard for a bipartician stimulus bill in just the first few weeks.
  16. Dalai Lama? You mean the guy who ran away when the Chinese invaded his country to rape it into submission and now flies all over the place 1st class and stays in luxury hotels to sell books and give speeches about the plight of his people yet who has never actually done anything for them? Is that what you respect and want Obama to do? Here is a link to the story which I must point out was produced on December 6, 2008 - 45 days before Obama even was a "World leader" http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/02/06/america/poll.4-423681.php
  17. That was prior to him trying to implement policies. And I'm sure it is much easier to appreciate the charm when you aren't responsible for paying for the policies and may actually be on the receiving end of the largess.
  18. I am not surprised. New President who seems to embrace many of the current European attitudes and policies. I am not so sure that I care too much what they think about him. I have only been a member here for about two weeks but have been browsing for awhile at the suggestion of a friend who thought I might find it interesting. I seems to me that the majority of the people in the politics section are not very thoughtful. Merely the hate Bush, Bush is bad or Obama is evil, Obama is bad crowd.
  19. NO they dont .. But they DO know your questions are self serving since you have blocked anyone who would have a dissenting view.
  20. Yes I know. Majorities can be wrong. President Bush, yes W himself, still holds the all time highest Presidential approval rating of all time. The majority was wrong then and they are wrong today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Approval_rating#Highest_approval_rating Obama is Bush light.I'm not gonna cheer on a continuation of the same brutal imperialism and anti social agenda simply because a charismatic black man is selling them now instead of W. I'm a socialist, I stand for certain things, I takes more than a better PR department to gain my support What and who is Obama? What does he or anyone else have to show for his legal, political and “community organizing” careers? In reality, very little. Take the marketable identity away from him, and there’s nothing there. He accepted this identity (neither black nor white, liberal nor conservative, entirely American nor foreign) and cultivated it, and it eventually took the place of whatever he was before. US presidential hopefuls are selected, vetted, molded in a complex and time-consuming process. The ruling elite faces life-and-death questions and is not about to allow just anyone to take up residence in the White House. He, or she, must be prepared to make the most ruthless decisions. Obama has survived the process largely because powerful forces in the country recognize that the Bush presidency has been a disaster. A different face, a different look, is needed. Bill Clinton came along to “feel” the population’s “pain” during a sharp recession and after the Reagan phenomenon had exhausted itself. The situation today is far more serious. Bush and Cheney are identified with war, slump and wholesale criminality. Confused and searching for answers, the population is seething with anger. A mass radicalization threatens. That the relatively inexperienced, bi-racial Obama has been plucked out of the ranks and possibly given his moment in the sun is itself an indication of the depth of the crisis. Politically, Obama is meant to forestall as long as possible the eruption of mass opposition to the existing economic and political setup. He is being marketed to the public as a caring, thoughtful black man, with hints of Lincoln in the background. He has the constructed appearance, the outer form, of opposition. But only the outer form. He’s clever and adroit. He’s not Bush. But, minus his carefully crafted identity, he’s not terribly different. The most pathetic and despicable role in the glorification of Obama is being played by liberals and "lefts" associated with the Nation and similar publications. Through their campaign for his election and their portrayal of him as the leader of an insurgent movement for "American renewal" they are facilitating the implementation of right-wing policies that would otherwise be politically unfeasible, including the expansion of the war in Afghanistan, trillions more in handouts to the banks and cuts in bedrock social programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. It would, however, be a mistake to believe that the combination of deception and self-inebriation of this opportunist milieu is shared by the working class. It lives in the real world of surging unemployment, poverty and homelessness. Even to the extent that workers have expectations that Obama will realize their aspirations for genuine change, this will not stop them from entering into struggle. And events will, sooner rather than later, shatter their illusions and clarify that the new government is no less their enemy than the old one.
  21. I'm sure most don't know, and even more don't care. The politics section, has almost become a joke. When at one time you could find intelligent questions, and honest debate, we are now faced with mundane repeating of the same drivel. One has to go through 20 questions before finding one of any worth. I agree with Celebrate.
  22. The ones that are politically sophisticated and knowledgeable now. However many neo cons might not because they are still in denial.
