When creating a distribution list I recieve "List names can not contain / @ : ..."?

I have imported contact names from another email account. When I create a distribution list from the imported names and hit "Save", I receive the following message from Internet Explorer, "List names can not contain / @ : ; [ ] < > , ' " or spaces. Please enter a new list names." When I use the Address Book to write individual emails, it works perfectly. Please help. Thanks.

1. It might think you are spamming the system. So email less than 50 at a time and there should be no problem.
