How can I delete the list of documents from "word"page?

ai am selling my computer and have already deleted my documents. However when I open a 'word'new page, I get in the left side of the page a list(names) of some of my old documents that have been deleted from"my documents". I couldn't delete that list. Can you help tell my how to get rid of that list?

1. goto tools - options - general tab - look for something that says recently used file list. uncheck it - ok. then see if it worked. then go back and check it in. there u go.
