Excluding English, What Are The Top 10 Languages Spoken In India?

I know that languages like hindi, punjabi, tamil etc probably appear in the list. But does anyone have the top 10 list? I already know english is the language of business so please exclude english and please also exclude urdu (I don't consider that to be a language). Thanks

  1. there is a saying in hindi "kos kos bar badley pani chaar (4) kos par vani" it means in India on every kilometer taste of Water changes and every 4 kilometers the language changes... basic language of India is sanskrit.. except Urdu and english u will find sanskrit words in every indian languages. We have about 325 languages (with different written scripts) and all are sanskrit based.. hindi is a common most language which is spoken by most of Indians.. but it's a pity that even after being the "mother tongue" south indians don't understand it... its needed for National Integration. i think its not realistic to give list of 10 top indian languages coz every language is important of its localities, but i will put hindi on top.
  2. kashmiri gujarati telugu Marathi
  3. Hindi Kashmiri Konkani Maithili Manipuri Marathi Nepali Oriya Punjabi Sanskrit Santali Sindhi Telugu Urdu Bengali Bodo Dogri Gujarati
  4. I think you need this for a specific purpose so no point in giving you a list of the available lingos. I will go by the languages printed in the Indian rupee. Alphabetically it is Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu. These are the top 9. If you add HIndi, you get your top ten. Why Urdu not considered friend?
