How can I run my own archive of a public mailing list, if the list owners don't provide one?

I want to archive messages from any mailing list, like you see on the web, with threaded/nested conversations in HTML, etc. I want to put this on my own private website. Let's assume I have their permission for this. The reason I want this is so I'm not restricted to my email client if I want to browse and search old messages from mailing lists.

  1. Archive them to a database Although much more technical this is better. Otherwise just use Outlook and use a program like Lookout search Lookout is better and faster then Outlook search and will Index properly
  2. Wget the site, if you have permission ..
  3. I'm not exactly sure what you want, but here's a couple of suggestions. There are web based email clients you could install, plus i have a mailing list manager that might help you, not sure where I got it from so I can't give you a link but would be happy to make it downloadable for you. The web based client that I found to be best in terms of operation, installation, customisation, is called Iloha mail, again i could send that to you but you may be able to google it.
