What would your top 5-10 book recomendations be?
Im graduating college and would like to make a reading list for my year off of school. What would be the top 5 or 10 books you would recommend to me? Act as if these are the only books i read in my life, what should they be? A little more information if it helps: I like non-fiction but im open to anything, and my favorite book right now is 'A Glass Castle' by Jeannette Walls.

- I used to read alot and I have to say the best series I have ever read was: The Witching Hour, Lasher, Taltos, Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle, all by Anne Rice and in that order.
- Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr- Christopher Paolini To Catch A Pirate- Jade Parker Pride and Predjudice- Jane Austin Seven Tears Into the Sea- Terri Farley To Kill A Mockingbird- --- A Seperate Peace- Jon Knowles Ever- Gail Carson Levine
- I went w/ more contemporary titles since most of the classics are a given. In no particular order: Sea Glass (Anita Shreve)--about the mill workers' strikes in MA early 1900s. Fiction. The Given Day (Dennis Lehane)--about the Boston Police efforts to unionize in early 1900s, life of the blacks during this time, & Babe Ruth. (Fiction). The Velveteen Rabbit Collection (Margary Williams). The original story & The Principles: A Guide to Becoming Real. Fiction/essay. Anything by Annie Dillard (ex. The Maytrees & For the Time Being). Essays The Female Brain by Dr. Louann Brizendine. Describes when the female brain develops in utero & how it functions differently than a man's. Non-fiction. A Beginning, A Muddle, And An End:The Right Way to Write (Avi). Muddle is spelled correctly. Don't be put off by this deceptively simple child's book. It says a lot about life's lessons. Two on WWII--Ghost Soldiers (Hampton Sides) about the Bataan Death March & The Rape of Nanking (Iris Chang) about the atrocities committrd in China by the Japanese. Non-fiction. The Hour I First Believed (Wally Lamb). Parallel stories of a nurse inside Columbine High during the shootings & the Women's Correctional Facility in CT. Fiction based on real events.
