Surprise baby shower guest list help!?

So I'm working with my bff's mother to plan a surprise baby shower. Now I know most of the friends, but there are still some I dont know if she would want invited. Any ideas how to sleuth this information out??

1. Check with your bf hubby or boyfriend if she has one. (Only do this if your certain he can keep a secret). If that is not possible, I would say err on the side of caution and invite the people.....at my baby shower I had a couple of people there that were not invited (they kinda invited themselves because they were distant relatvies of my husband and word got out about the shower and I didn't even know the people) but in the end it was no biggie...baby showers are fun and when it starts she will be so busy opening presents and eating and playing games she won't be worried about who is there.
