Making money with my photos?
I need and would love to try and make some money sellling my photos. I take mainly landscape, flowers stuff like that. Stock sites confuse me, I don't know if my photos are the right size and worry they may get rejected! My partner and I have a very good ebay business (feedback wise), but we are not making enough money. So I thought of trying to sell my photos on there, but when we tried printing them off to see how good they would look, we realised our two printers (Lexmark Z640 and HP Photosmart F2180) are both no good for printing really good quality photos. :( We can't afford to go out and buy a top of the range printer, or even a basic printer at the moment, so we can't sell them on ebay, unless there's another way? Any ideas, please? I really want to try and sell my photos, as some of them are quite good and I have thousands. I also have the freelance photographers handbook 2009, but haven't had the confidence to submit any yet. Just don't know the best way to go about making some money from my passion (photography).

- http://www.redbubble.com is a site which you can post your pictures and sell them. They do various sizes and types of prints, greeting cards etc and you set the percentage of "profit" you want. Have a look at that. If you want to sell prints through e-bay or the like then, unless you have a good printer and know how to use it to get the colours correct, you would be better getting them printed at a lab and adding on your profit to that. http://www.redbubble.com/people/andyw
- Try sending off your files to bayphoto.com. They make great, professional grade prints for a really good price.
- Have them printed at Mpix, which is the consumer division of Miller Pro Lab. Or take them to a pro lab if there is one around. your area. Get over your fear of being rejected. It is probably unlikely to make much money from microstock, but go ahead and submit some. How will you know if you don't try? Good luck!
- > Any ideas, please? I really want to try and sell my photos, The guy above mentions Mpix.com. What he doesn't mention is that they are the company that MANY pro-photographers use. So until you make enough money to buy a printer, just use MPIX. Problem solved. ==== > (Lexmark Z640 and HP Photosmart F2180) Forget about it. The TWO of the best companies for photographic printers are Epson and Canon. I like Epson better. The colors of Epson are vastly superior to the prints from factory. But my printer was over $600 new (and you have to deal with clogged ink jet, etc.) Good luck.......
