why do the links in my favorites list stop working in Int. Exp. after a while they do nothin when i click it?

I have the newest version of Internet Explorer. Whenever I add a site to my favorites list it does work for a while, but a few days later or so it just doesnt do anything. I can click the links but no new page opens up. I looked under properties but it just lists the location as some file on my hard drive? How do i fix this. Some of the favorites links still work, but it seems like the one's i use more often dont.
