Are children a part of a wedding list head count?

I'm making up my wedding guest list, but I have several nieces and nephews between the ages of 9 months-16 years old. Are they considered in the head count, or is it strictly adults (their parents)? Thanks! Thanks everyone! I will count the lil' ones. And just make sure the caterer and venue knows how many kids and how old they are. Thanks!

  1. If they are eating, you usually count them. You can put the headcount Adults - 137 Children - 7 or just ask the venue how they want it handled. Good luck!
  2. If they're old enough to need a meal, they're old enough to count on your list.
  3. Yes, they need to be included. The caterer and reception venue will want you to specify the number under 21 and who will need a children's meal, so have those numbers ready. I wouldn't give a children's meal to anyone over 12. If there are young children or infants, you will need to let the reception venue know so they can provide booster seats or high chairs.
  4. Everyone who eats and takes up a seat is part of the headcount. Ask your venue and/or caterer if they count babies under 2 yrs. Most caterers won't but a venue will. Nearly all caterers have a kids' menu for anyone 12 and under for a fraction of the price that you are paying for each adult.
  5. They need to be included, but check with your caterer or where ever you are having your reception and see if they have a special menu for the little ones. My daughter did and it saved them alot ot time and money.
  6. This depends upon your venue's rules. Some count every person that takes up a seat, others treat kids differently, some have an age that they consider the person adult or child and that age is not usually 18. My venue charges anyone under 13 years old at half price and does NOT include them in the minimum required headcount, so I need to provide the # of adults - at full price that count towards the minimum - and the # of kids under 13 - who are charged half price and do not count towards the minimum.
  7. Kids under 12 and able to eat are part of the head count as children. Their meals are smaller, but they still take a place. Ask your caterer. Some feed children under 8 for free. A 9 month old would not be part of the head count as they are usually eating from mom's plate.
  8. that's different at every venue for us kids under 2 are free and under 10 are half price so we have to give separate head counts depending on age you have to check with your venue to see what they want you to do
  9. Yes you should. The difference in price between an adult meal and kids meal was quite a bit. So keep close track. * * *
  10. When I got married, they counted everyone that was over 2 years old, anyone under 2 years of age they did not count because they do not eat very much.
