Top contributor have to be in top 10 list?
To get a top contributor badge in a category, do you have to be one of the people that are listed in the "Top 10 Answerers" for that category as well? Like, are there only ten top contributors for a category?

- I'm looking at the top 10 list for Other Sports where I have my top contributor and not everyone in the top 10 in that category has a badge. I also got the badge well before I was on the top ten list in the same category.
- I have a TC badge for 3 categories but I am not mentioned in the top ten answerers. I used to try and find my name but gave up, it may be that I do not have enough points or answers to register on there, I really do not know, only that I am not listed. So I suppose the answer to your question is no.
- Becoming a TC has to do with the amount of "best answers" received in a particular category. Rumor has it that the best answer percentage has to be at least 10% in a particular category in the last 4-6 weeks. And during that time period you must have answered at least 45 questions. You can get the TC badge for up to 3 categories, mouseover any users avatar and you'll find out in which categories they are most knowledgeable. You may loose this badge again when you get less active or receive less "best answers". http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-d8pH0dcoRKeB12yOcnUQp.9VCFos?p=19664 Although it is difficult, it is possible to get a TC badge when you are in level 1, but the users in the Top 10 are those with the highest count of best answers. One problem about this though: all YA pages with English speaking communities share a site by default, on the front page, right underneath the list of categories, this might be changed to questions from your own country only. This lets you see what you want to see, but of course does not prevent it to be displayed on other English speaking YA sites too. Now let's say you are logging in from the UK and opted for getting only the UK pages displayed - in that case you'll see the UK top 10, but if you log on to the US site, you'll see a different list of users. To add to the confusion, no matter where in the world you are registered, you can participate in any YA country as long as you use their language. The points made anywhere will be added to the account of the country where you're registered, even if you're much more active elsewhere. Subsequently you maybe show up on the Top 10 list of your home country, even when most of your BA's are aqquired in another country. Yep, I know what I'm talking about, because that's exactly my situation: I'm the leader of the board in my home country, but since I like to help people from all over the world, I'm much more often visiting the YA pages of the US. That left some of the users back home baffled, since they couldn't figure out how I made my points - after all they never saw me answering any questions...:-)
- I became a top contributor first and it wasn't until 2 weeks later i became listed in the "Top 10 answerer's" i kept checking to see, and that's how long i took to appear in the list i wasn't there before i became a top contributor!
- 50 best answer (per week)
