how long does it take to get on the nj section 8 waiting list?

i'm a single mom in the middlesex county area of nj....... if i apply for section 8, does anyone know how long it takes to even get an application or get on the waiting list that they have?

1. The demand for Sec 8 assistance is heavy in that area, and funds are limited for Sec 8. At the moment, Middlesex County is not taking new applications, since it already has a long waiting list of applicants. The list generally opens once a year, and is quickly filled. Applicants on the list generally wait for two plus years before they finally receive a subsidy.
2. The last I heard the list was full and they are not taking applications.
