how to add contact to my online list and to use the chat ?

how to add contacts to online list? can i chat with aol or hotmail id? how can i do this?

1. Don't know if aol works but you add their hotmail the same as normal in contacts...then under email...instant messaging id
2. yes, but they will be asked to accept when they log in, if they don't belong to yahoo or windows live messenger, go to Contacts on Messenger and then ADD contact, fill in, follow instructions. once they have accepted, their names will be added to your list.
