To chat with a Windows live user, you must first add them to your online list--how do I do that?

i added them but i am still being prompted to add them to my online list. i receive their messages but they are not seeing mine. actually i am chatting through my yahoo mail...thats where i encounter problems they are all contacts in my yahoo address book. i am able to chat with only those contacts who have yahoo email addresses.

1. in your yahoo messenger window click on contacts, then click on "invite people to join". then type in their email address. an invite to join you will be sent to them. if they accept they'll be added to your messenger list. hope this helps, good luck
