how do you add a windows live contact to your online list?

to talk to your windows live contacts on yahoo messenger you have to add them to your online list you know when you chat in yahoo mail beta im confused cos i cant see a way to to do it every time i try to talk to my windows live contact it says add them to your online list but i cant see a way

1. I have the same problem on one account, but it works on an other account. I've been talking on the phone to the person I'm trying to add, but she doesn't seem to get an invitation.
2. Here is the reference but it still won't work for me. It seem that even if I add the tick mark in my contacts, yahoo messenger still does not recongnize it :-( See : http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/tutorials/cg/mail/cg_chat6.html
