- Depends on the person . :] Because some people could think it's scary, but others may not .
- Well, don't know if this is what you were looking for but... http://www.imdb.com/chart/horror
- 1. Psycho (1960).....HELL YEA! 2. Alien (1979) 3. The Shining (1980) 4. Aliens (1986) 5. Les Diaboliques (1955) 6. The Thing (1982) 7. Faust-Eine deutsche Volkssage (1926) 8. Lat den ratte komma in (2008) 9. King Kong (1933) 10. Frankenstein (1931) But remember, you can look at many different places and the top 10 movies will be different.
- personally i would ASSUME hollywood may say films like .....the exorcist , texas chainsaw massacre , last house on the left , rosemarys baby ,the omen , etc........the more money making or shocking films would surely prevail ?????
- Here is my list but of course variations are possible depending on one's taste. In general these are ones that are considered as some of the best horror movies by and large: 1) Halloween I (1978) 2) Psycho (1960) 3) Let the Right One In (2008) [Lat den ratte komma in] 4) The Shining (1980) 5) The Exorcist (1973) 6) The Thing (1982) 7) Alien (1979) 8) Aliens (1986) 9) Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) 10) Suspiria (1977) Other notable Omissions: 11) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1972) 12) Village Of The Damned (1995/1960) 13) The Wicker Man (1973) 14) Eden Lake (2008) 15) Rosemary's Baby (1968) 16) The Orphanage [El Orphanto...spanish title] (2007) 17) Poltergeist I (1982) 18) Night Of The Living Dead (1968) 19) Dawn Of The Dead (1978) 20) Omen (1976/2006)
- Hollywood would say the most money making horror movie was 'The Sixth Sense'. Any 'real' horror fan would NOT call that a horror movie though...lol Before that the biggest money making horror movie was 'The Blair Witch Project' because it cost so little to make and then did so well at the box office. Before that the horror movie to beat was John Carpenter's Halloween, which for 20 years was the biggest money making horror movie of all time. Of course both 'Halloween' and 'Blair Witch' were low-budget independent films. Only 'The Sixth Sense' was a big budget Hollywood picture, of these 3. Hollywood pretty much stayed away from horror films until the last few years with all the darned remade re-imaginnings, etc... So most of the classics were low buget indie's. So, yeah, I don't know the 'real' top 10 Hollywood-made horror films, but leaving out indies I would guess there's not that many. :)
- Here are 6 that I think are the scariest... The re-released version of The Exorcist (1973) Scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-4f_NMUxcY John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) Scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkNyC6MQMj0 Don't Look Now (1973) Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYICwstBwnM Pumpkinhead (1988) Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXlcm1el1D0 When A Stranger Calls Back (1993) Trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi736231705/ Poltergeist (1982) Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hQkBLrd1rE I know they're all old movies, but I'll tell you that nothing much has scared me since I watched them.
