Around how much would it cost monthly for an apartment on a higher level with a view in New York or Manhattan?

You know, one of those really tall apartments where you can stand outside on the deck and see the beautiful city at night? I know it'll be expensive, but I just want a rough number. $5,000? $10,000? I plan on moving there eventually. Also, is it a big challenge trying to get one? Do you have to do the whole waiting list business?
