Does anybody on Y/A work at Lowe's or Home Depot, but don't like their store's sponsored driver?

I ask this because I worked at Home Depot & don't like Tony Stewart even though he is a top driver. I like Jeff Gordon & was told not to wear Gordon's jacket to work. My girlfriend's sister works at Lowe's & they told her not to wear her M&M's racing jacket to work. Maybe I could see if she wore a Home Depot Jacket & I wore a Lowe's jacket because that is their competiotion, but M&M's jacket. I eventually quit Home Depot, not because they told me not to wear jacket but I continued anyway, it was only jacket warm enough for the cold weather that I owned but because of store management & how little they knew about retail business

  1. No...and sometimes.
  2. I don't work for either one but I shop at both and wear my Dale Earnhardt SR coat all the time. You should be able to wear you coat off the clock anywhere you want. I like Jimmie but not Tony.
  3. Most people that work at Lowes or Home Depot, don't know or care if they have a NASCAR driver..let alone know who he is.... Most Sears employees don't know or care that Sears sponsors the entire truck series or provides tools to the teams..... They are interested in getting their job done, and going home....
  4. Well the M&M's and Jeff Gordon Jacket sounds foolish. How can they tell you to take it off. They need to grow up.
  5. Not in that sense, but... I can see them asking you not to wear it while on duty. But on your own time.... I would have told where to put there "attitudes about merchandising" and reported them to the local department of labor. What's next? Are they going to tell you not to wear certain boxers or t shirts because they don't like the fruit of the loom car......
  6. I worked at Lowe's for a while back in high school. We could only wear Jimmie Johnson hats and show favoritism towards him. Being a Jeff Gordon fan, it was difficult to see all of Jimmie's crap and not be able to support my favorite (the guy who helped him get his career started). It was amusing when customers would wear Home Depot jackets and hats in the store, though. It was the only time Gordon and Stewart fans were united in struggle.
  7. I know a guy who works at Lowes, he is a die hard Matt Kenseth fan, and he has some of the same issues, they all have Jimmie Johnson apron things they wear on Friday-Sunday, they gave him all sorts of grief with his Matt Kenseth pin on his Jimmie J. apron. I think its childess but , I guess thats the way it is.
  8. nope
  9. I work at Lowe's and am a Dale Jr fan. They all know I'm not a Jimmie Johnson fan and respect that. In my store, they give us posters, hats, etc., but just politely refuse them. I was a Dale Jr fan long before I was a Lowe's employee. It's actually a little easier since Jr went to Hendrick's and they are both on the same team. don't keep much Jr stuff in my office, mainly cause the company doesn't allow a lot of stuff in our offices. My store manager was in Las Vegas for the race (annual Lowe's Manager's Meeting) and he actually took pics of Jr for me at the meet and greet at the track on Saturday where all the Hendrick drivers came to talk to them. My store has al ot of employees who are fans of other drivers - and the store doesn't force Jimmie on us.
  10. i worked in a home improvement store--[neither Home Depot or Lowe's]--that did not allow any tony stewart stuff through the door. but jimmie johnson stuff was OK? go figure.
  11. I'm a Tony Stewart fan and have to shop Lowe's..Home depot is too far away..I love to wear the 20 in there. Now knowing they hate it will be even more worth it..;) GO SMOKE!!!!
