What are banned books banned from?
If everyone has the ability to read them and are encouraged to, then how is a book banned at all? What is the purpose of the banned book list? bina- that doesn't answer my question at all. What are banned books banned from? and you gave me an explanation of why not what It's frustrating that no one reads the question. WHAT are they banned from. I don't know how to be more clear. Libraries carry them, they can be bought online, and they can be taught in school, so WHAT are they banned from?

- ANOTHER EDIT: Actually, some books have been banned from school libraries. You just don't know of any. We have read the question. Yes, you can still get the books online and such, but some school libraries make sure that certain books aren't carried there. I believe I said that earlier. Do you understand now? It doesn't get much simpler than that. They are usually banned from libraries and schools. Some people believe that if they don't agree with a book's contents, then no one in the world should read them either. My school librarian told me that if only one person complained about a book, it is automatically considered a 'challenged book', which isn't quite as serious as a banned book. These days, we don't see much banned books around. Several books are only challenged and are carefully considered when they are proposed to be used in school. I did a report on this last year. Banning books is wrong and hypocritical. Everyone has the right to read whatever book they'd like. If you don't agree with something in it, the solution is simple: don't read it. EDIT: They even celebrate these books. It is called Banned Books Week. As stated on their website: "Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment" For more information on that, click here - http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek/index.cfm For info on banned books in general, go here - http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/banned/aboutbannedbooks/index.cfm
