How come I can't see some of my facebook contacts' friends lists on their profile page today?

I used to be able to view their friends list, but now I can only see mutual friends on their profile pages. I think facebook changed its privacy settings today, but I have a hard time believing that some changed their profile settings while others didn't. What triggered their friends lists to become hidden and how do I know if I have to make adjustments as well?

1. To hide your friends list from EVERYONE on Facebook -- meaning if you're subjected to these stupid new privacy settings even those on your friends list can see your friends -- you now have to hide this box on your profile page. This means your actual friends can't view your list, either. Hopefully Facebook will fix this, because it's a ridiculous update.
2. I want to know the answer to this too. I can't view one of my friend's Friends List - does this mean that they've changed their settings so that I can't see it?
