Online business advice?

I used to sell cell phones on ebay, but then the market died. When I did this I didn't have much money to buy my product. Now I have a lot more capital and want to do something. I need to find a good niche and I'm not asking for anyone to give away there secrets, but where are some good resources so I can find the good products? I just need some direction here, I don't want to buy and sell products that I'm going to make a small percentage on. Im not saying I want to make 50% margins, but with listing fees, shipping fees I just want it to make sense. So if I could have a little guidance here it would be helpful. Im a high school student and just looking for more income on top of my job, I only can go to school and work so many hours a day, so a side business would be ideal for me. Thanks.

  1. I sell on ebay but suffer from low mark ups. Occassionally I find a good product that I can markup 50%, but it takes a lot of work to find. Then there are ebay listing/final payment fees, paypal fees, and often credit card fees. Doesn't leave a lot of room for the high life. There is no easy solutions. The mechanics of online business is pretty easy, but the sourcing of good, popular products is an art form. It takes cunning, determination, and creativity. The best option is to buy a bunch of cheap product with good sales appeal yourself, then store and deliver the products yourself. You can try dropshipping, but the margins are often too small. My advice is to keep an eye out for sales at dept stores, I made a nice profit from turning over a popular board game that was going out of print. You must know what sells - I would do research of what is popular before I go on to selling, otherwise you will be stuck with a bunch of stuff you like but noone else does. I would love to find a small local manufacturer that sells offline only - that would be perfect. Until then I search the sites that are screened and tested by the site I give below. Without a good resource that screens sources for you, you will likely be stuck with a lot of scam sites that will rip you off. The source I use for suppliers, research and general good advice is the service given below. I have tried a lot of websites, but this is the best. Its a one off payment that provides a lifetime of access, so it is very much worth the small initial cost.
