Facebook - if i click someone's name in the online list , would they see that i clicked on their name?

So, on facebook there are this online list which we can chat to. Just wondering, if i clicked on someone's name without typing anything, would it still popped on their profile , like just the empty chat box with my name on it.

1. Nope. If they happened to have a chat opened with you on their screen and also hadn't said anything and you started typing, they might be able to see the typing symbol. But even then, I'm not sure.
