is there a way to get free mailing lists?

i want to send out some fliers for my business but i cant afford to buy a mailing list right now. is there a way to get names and addresses of people in a certain area?

1. The phone book has all the names and addresses you can use, but you'll have to type them yourself.
2. I actually talked with a manager of a United States Post Office location 2 years ago about obtaining mailing lists. He gave me various options and locations of where I could obtain some, either low cost, or free, cannot remember exactly. You should take a trip to your local USPS office, they will have the answer to this question, as they deal with mass mailing from businesses in your area.
