How do I use messenger without having my real name show up?

I only want my nickname to show up but in the chat messenger window and the friends list, my real name shows up.

1. http://members.yahoo.com/ sign in and click edit profiles on the top right. make a new one that doesnt show your name

I have had the same problem what you have to do is when people request to add you, its then you have to edit the portion that shows your full name if you still have problems delete them and send a request to re-add them as a friend altering the name field or try yahoo help page http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/help/tour/index.html
3. put your name in ur address book w/ ur nickname n it should help
4. Click on My Contact Details on your messenger. Remove the real name that is there and replace it with your chosen one. Another idea is when you add someone double check that your real name is not the name listed as the one that the other person will see.
5. you justdon't type your real name up.thats all you need to do.
