How do I make the order of the "Contact List" and the "Address Book" list to be identical?

Sometimes the order of my "Contact List" and my "Address Book" list (the one that pops up when you are addressing a new e-mail) are in the same order. Other times (at random) the "Contact List" is in the order I designed it (by adding numbers in front of the names and making those names come up at the top of the list); but the "Address Book" list that pops up when you want to address a new e-mail shows up in alphabetical order!!!! Then you have to go down the list, check the appropiate box next to the name and finally click so that the name is added to the "To" box in the new e-mail. A very complicated and tiresome process. Before; your "Address Book" list was in the same order you created your "Contact List" and all you had to do was to double click on the name you wanted to go into the "To" box of your new e-mail; and, (Bingo!), the e-mail you wanted was in the "To" box. How do I keep my "Address Book" list to ALWAYS come up in the same order as I created my "Contact List". Thanks to anyone with some ideas on this.

  1. Short of changing the "Contact" to last name first, and eliminating those numbers in front of names, to make them sort, how about this ? Set up "Categories", one for each subject area, and add the names to the categories (many have several categories) Assign "Nicknames" for everyone you wish, rather than an arbitrary number in front of them, then the alphabetical order will be the same, and the nicknames will show up in the "Address Book" and the "Categories" - By the way, emailing from these lists is quick - the Nicknames really show out, as they are in bright green and to the right of the names and email addresses. Anyway, that's what I do. I have a few names that actually have numbers in the last name space, so those go at the end of the "Address Book" and "Categories" Good luck
