Book List!!?
I'm a 12 year old with a high school reading level and I need a really good book list. I prefer if they are at least 250 pages so they last for a few hours if I go on a trip or something. Most of the books I read are fantasy, but I don't know why that is, and I don't really care if they aren't fantasy. Please post a really big list, I read one book every night, so they go by quickly. Thank you! omg like 80% of the books you guys recommended i already read! i guess i have good taste! lol i already read the twight series, it is the best series in the world!! everybody should read it!!!

- Try the Harry Potter series: they are fantastic books a with deeper meaning that last for hundreds and hundreds of pages. I enjoy trying to find allusions in them.

- These are books, that might be quite difficult, but are probably a worthy challenge. Most twelve year olds wouldn't read these, but since you seem to be a fast reader, you can revisit them later and learn more from them. Some are fairly easy though. I've listed the book with the approximate page count (as far as I remember), the author, and the rough genres. The Name of the Rose (500 p) Umberto Eco (Mystery/Historical Fiction) Slaughterhouse-Five (250 p) Kurt Vonnegut (Science Fiction/Metafiction) Cat's Cradle (250 p) Kurt Vonnegut (Science Fiction/Apocalyptic Fiction) Mother Night (250 p) Kurt Vonnegut (Novel) Flowers For Algernon (300 p) Daniel Keyes (Science Fiction) A Canticle for Leibowitz (300 p) Walter J. Miller, Jr. (Science Fiction/Apocalyptic Fiction) Dune (500 p) Frank Herbert (Science Fiction/Fantasy) Lolita (300 p) Vladimir Nabokov (Novel/Romance/Tragicomedy) The Blind Assassin (500 p) Margaret Atwood (Novel/Science Fiction) The Talented Mr. Ripley (300 p) Patricia Highsmith (Mystery/Psychological Fiction) The Price of Salt (250 p) Patricia Highsmith (Mystery/Lesbian Fiction) The Wind Up Bird Chronicle (600 p) Haruki Murakami (Mystery/Novel) If On A Winter's Night A Traveler (250 p) ‡ Italo Calvino (Adventure/Metafiction) His Dark Materials Trilogy (400/350/550 p) Philip Pullman (Fantasy) To Kill A Mockingbird (300 p) Harper Lee (Novel) Anna Karenina (950 p) ‡ Leo Tolstoy (Novel) ‡ denotes a novel I'm current reading and haven't finished. Other authors worth looking into, that some people like (some of which have written some pretty big books) include (but I'm leaving out many other great ones): Alexandre Dumas Victor Hugo Charles Dickens Jane Austen Fyodor Dostoevsky Thomas Hardy Mark Twain James Joyce (may be too difficult) Ernest Hemingway F. Scott Fitzgerald William Faulkner Gabriel Garcia Marquez Jack Kerouac J. D. Salinger Joseph Heller Toni Morrison Most of these suggestions are a bit "literary" but they're bound to help you in High School, college, and later in life.
- The Anne of green gables series by L.M. Montgomery Skin Hunger by Kathleen Duey Wickedly Lovely by Melissa Marr The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte ( This book will get your brain muscles working!) The Left behind series ( personally I hate these books but my brother loves them ) To kill a mocking bird The witch of blackbird pond Adam of the road Treasure Island Rifles for Watie Lara and the gray mare series by Kathleen Duey ( these books are for girls 9-12 but seriously, they are the BEST books I have Ever read, I read them 9 times) Little house on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder ( They are not classics for nothing!) Well I hope I have given you a good selection. Have fun reading ( also the dictionary is good reading if you want to expand your vocabulary! LOL) I recommend you to just go to the library and get all the books with a interesting title since you read so fast!
- I see Jane Austen is in here a few times. P&P was mentioned, but both Emma and Sense and Sensibility are good. I had to read Pride & Prejudice in high school and re-read it on my own. Watership down was a great book I read when I was 13 (it's a pretty big book if I remember). Have you read the "Belgariad" by David Eddings? One of the better fantasy series. Also, all the Dragonriders books by Anne McCaffrey - The White Dragon was my favorite, I think. More fantasy - Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of WInter Night and Dragons of Spring Dawning by Weiss and Hickman are very good. If you like those, there are lots of other books that take place after that series. Any Stephen King book. If you want some especially long books, try The Stand (I resisted reading this most of my life cause the plot sounded boring, but I really liked it) and It (this book actually gave me a nightmare ot two, but really cool). And all the Harry Potter books - I just finished Book 7 and I'm bummed it's all over. lol For some historical romance novels, try Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. Mostly, have fun! I love to hear about other book lovers! Off to read Lisey's Story by S. King.

- Why not read the Bible? It's the best book ever. It's a non fiction book. Everything written on it is very real. You can't gain much knowledge and excitement than reading the Bible. Do you know all the stories in the Bible? Well, start reading now to know. Within one year you will surely finished reading it. Just try it, and you would understand what I mean.
