Is Craig's List a legitimate source of job searching?
I have been searching for an administrative job for the past several months and I feel silly to admit I have tried Craig's List on numerous occasions. Though I have several years experience, I have not had one successful turn out. Approximately 80% of Craig's List posts are scams, and the other 20% never reply. Is Craig's List even a legitimate source? Does Craig's List apply any filters in regards to who/what is being posted on their website? It's ridiculous.

- i spent the summer looking for jobs on craigslist and what I realized is that while most of the posts are scams, there are a few legitimate ones. You just have to be careful. Obviously the ones that say make cash by searching Google or work at home and make 200,000 a year are most likely fake. one of the best things i found to do is to search the company name or ad on google and see. Sometimes you will see that the company is a scam, and other times you will see that they are well known. Good luck
- Like you already mentioned, most of them are spams and some of them never reply. Though I've been lucky enough to find a few that were legit, those were the ones that required you to apply in person. I would just stick with Monster.
- Most of it are scams. They usually get flagged a few days later. I found one that left their name and company's name for a part-time office job. I looked it up and decided to drive there to drop my resume because I wanted to see the area. The person seemed nervous that I found his office, and I told him why I showed up because of scams. He gave me a little interview, and asked more than once if I really saw the ad. I don't know what he was really look for. Well, he never called and he removed the ad the next day....??????????
- I'm looking to switch jobs and I've had the most luck with craigslist. Maybe it's my area, but at least I've heard of every place that advertises there. I've gotten more interviews through CL with legitimate places than I could ever find through the newspaper. It seems to me that the "Part Time", "ETC", and "Gigs" sections have the most questionable jobs.
