Can you believe what this guy said about Michael?
I think it's shameful. Rep. King Continues Jackson Rant To CBS 2 HD Congressman Expands On YouTube Video Says Media Coverage Of King Of Pop's Death "An Orgy Of Glorification" For The Most Part, New Yorkers Appear Split On Controversial Issue Reporting Pablo Guzman MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (CBS) ― Over the weekend, Long Island Congressman Peter King posted what is often called "a rant" on YouTube -- sounding off. In this case, about what he called the media glorification of Michael Jackson. CBS 2 HD sat down with the congressman Monday and King continued in person where he left off on YouTube. On the video, King launches into scathing criticism of Jackson. "For the last, I don't know how long now, this low-life Michael Jackson, his name, his face, his picture, is all over the newspapers, television, radio. That's all we hear about is Michael Jackson. Let's knock out this psycho-babble. This guy was a pervert, a child molestor, he was a pedophile, and to be giving this much coverage to him day in and day out, what's it say about us a country?" King says on the video. The "rant," as such a video posting is called, that Rep. King posted on the popular video sharing site sparked a split of outrage and praise. And Monday, he told us why he did it. "I just thought, this has gone over the top. It was an orgy of glorification," King told CBS 2 HD on Monday. On the video King also says: "I just think we're too politically correct. No one wants to stand up and say, 'We don't need Michael Jackson!' He died, he had some talent, but fine, there are people dying every day. There are men and women dying everyday in Afghanistan, let's give them the credit they deserve. "The bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be alone in a room with Michael Jackson? King also says "there was nothing good about this guy" even though Jackson "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing." On Monday he carried the rant further: "Yes, he did violate young boys. He did put them in terribly inappropriate positions. And that's a terrible signal to be sending out to society -- that we're somehow condoning that behavior. And you are condoning it when you give him the type of --- when we give him the type of regal coverage! And millions of people fighting to get to this mega-memorial! I mean, this is --- this is wrong!" You can easily imagine what King's fellow representative from the Harlem branch of New York's congressional delegation would say. "I'd rather leave it alone," Rep. Charles Rangel said. "It's unfortunate that it's been said. I hope he's sorry he said it, but talking about it is not going to help or ease the pain that he has caused." And in King's own district: "I kind of think the media went overboard with it also. I do. I don't know exactly what he said; but I do think the media went overboard," said Mia Deternova of Massapequa Park. "I believe that Michael Jackson was a great entertainer. If he was acquitted, then that's what we should go on," added Jeff Bowers, also of Massapequa Park. To which King said Monday: "Listen, I feel a lot of sympathy for Michael Jackson. I mean this guy was a tortured person. "So I said it yesterday. I'm speaking today. I will not be speaking tomorrow, on the day of his memorial. I mean, here's a guy who had so much; in the end, he really had very little." So, our rather admittedly unscientific poll finds the voters somewhat divided – evenly in King's king's district regarding the Jackson coverage. King said he has had calls from some people calling him names, but overall, he has been heartened by the response.
Public Comments
- Michael Jackson was a complete friggin' nutjob.... it's about time someone told it like it is..
- Thats too much to read. this is a site about asking for facts, not opinions.
- I heard that. How disrespectful for him saying that. He is NOT a pedophile the boy who said he touched him lied for the money. That shows the man ignorance. He should just let Michael Rest In Peace
- OH MY GOD!
- Do you think ANYONE will bother to read that?
- He has no idea what he's talking about. That was completely rude of him. Apparently millions of people in the world disagree with his speech because it was all lies.
- Yes I can. He is a very smart man. Good for him.
- The dude is alone in his thinking.
- Well..... Y'know..... He's got a point there.......
- That is very harsh!
- you guy has no respect.
- blah.blah,thx for the 2 points!!
- stupid ba$&ard, we ALL know MJ did not do anything like tht, he was a good guy and offered his bed to children , BUT thats only because they wanted to sleep in his room. BUT HE SLEPT ON THE FLOOR. people are so stupid. thanks for posting this, i'm going to do some reasearch on his a$$.
- I heard something like this on the radio but we turned it off because we got ticked off, the guy was dissin on mj he sucks
- i think its horrible!! he shouldn't have said that about a legend especially when he just died. i love michael more than any other singer who ever lived and the congressman can fuck off!!
- i agree completely with king. what guy in there right mind would sleep in a bed with a kid not related after allegations of being a pedophile. that type is a pedophile. burn burn burn
- He is a stupid fool. He just wants to put his input where nobody asked him too. So he knows that michael molested kids? really? Nothing was done but a settlement w/the first boy. And if my son was touched the perpetrator would be in jail, not just paying me off... People like that piss me off. He obviously knows nothing about Michael...."maybe he was a good singer, and did some dance moves" ?? Michael was so much more than that, and it's not only this country but the rest of the world. He was a humanitarian and helped so many charities. I refuse to waste anymore energy on this imbecile.
- Dude schools over... I don't have to read!
- Yes. Reason? - He's right. There's no need for all of this. So because he puts a few different beats, did suggestive dance moves, and sang in an awkwardly high pitched tone means there's an internationally viewed memorial? Wow. If this is how the world's become, why don't we just line up homosexual pedophiles and have memorials for them all?
- There are a lot of ignorant selfish mean people out there. Michael Jackson was genuine and gifted, and as for the pervert charges, people demanded much of him and he had to pay for his peace. If only two people chose to bring charges in this mans entire remarkable lifetime, chances are they were just greedy money hungry people, like the Mom who admitted to staying with Jackson along with her kids, and then (only) when he stopped giving this greedy woman money did she coach her kid into making charges against him, that were paid off so Michael could know some peace. Many famous people have had to pay people to leave them alone. This "person" that said so much nothing didn't know Michael Jackson, those who did ignore that kind of rant. Michael Jackson gave 20% of every dime he ever made to charities, and he helped many hungry children. he loved children. So he was different, that's what made him special. Ignore these rants, Michael deserved this public recognition more then Reagan did..( Iran Contra, selling guns to Iran etc.) We have celebrated many people who did not deserve our hero worship, he did. There will be a lot of King's now that Michael is gone and he can't defend himself any more or pay them the money they demanded from him to be just left alone by these greedy mean people.
- Yes he was talented and many people even those who dislike him can recognize that, but he clearly had issues even if we don't know them and aren't sure exactly what they were. We don't know for sure if things he was accused of are true and to what extent or just how serious they were. I think it should be left as he was talented and his work is very loved and known but I don't think it is fair to say he did or didn't do things he was accused of because we don't know for sure, but the fact he was even accused shows there was some kind of a problem and that boundaries may have been crossed to some extent. And obviously there were some issues with money, surgeries, Personal life, drug use so it's easy to believe things like that would be said about micheal, and they may very well be true but I don't think that mean his work should Just as much be respected and he should Rest In Peace, but I think people should stop talking about his past problems because it'sall over, it doesn't matter because he isn't here and people should just ignore what is said about him if they don't like it
- I agree that mj was a perverted idiot. May he burn in hell!
- that man has no respect and bring on the thumbs down i really don't care but mj is not a molester or a pedophile he did more that some singing and dancing and probably did more for others than peter king did
