How can I tell where I am on a Section 8 waiting list?

I wanted to know how I can check my status on a Section 8 Housing (or Mainstream Housing) list in Jefferson county, Colorado. I have called my housing authority, but they can't tell me. Is it even possible? Thank you.

1. I dont THINK they are required to tell you. I am thinking that they are only bound to notify you when your are being called your turn. I would say chatting up the person in charge of the data could not hurt.
