What is the catch on those beautiful apartments advertised on Craig's list for such low price?

I've been looking for apartments on craig's list and I find these beautiful 3 bedroom or 4 bedroom apartments in NYC for $1000 or less. What is the catch.

  1. Catch is you are the 4 th roommate. Or it is the usual grab and scram. You pay the Rent, Two months Security, are given a key and a move in date next week. You show up and the key does not fit and the person you gave the money to is long gone. Typical NYC scam
  2. Typically, it is a scam. Scammer lift these photos off the internet and try to get you to Western Union the money to them. If it seems too good to be true, it is.
  3. roomates
  4. Most of them are scams, there is no apartment. Some "I am out of the country, please pay deposit for key to view" BS. Orr, as otherwise suggested, that is your portion of the rent, rent for a 4 bedroom will be closer to 5k a month.
  5. Craigslist is a good marketing tool for locators to advertise and with specials apartments can have lower rent amounts.
  6. If you read the fine lines it's $1000 per week, not per month. Could be scams too.
