  1. first off, if you cannot express yourself any better than this, you will not get far. since you are talking about more than a small claims case this will require some serious legal work. you will have to prove it was the old guy's fault that the house burned and you suffered damages. you will need to hire a lawyer for this. be advised, unless you can prove this was the home owner's fault you will likely receive nothing. this is why you should have renter's insurance.
  2. I kinda understand what your saying, but better said than that rude person, you need to make paragraphs. As soon as I get to the middle my eyes hurt with all those letters. I dont' think I have any advice for you hun, but it sounds like he did lie to you about the claim. If your going to re-write your question, please spell the words out, I got kinda confused what abbriviations are what... but I get ya. :D Good Luck! (EDIT: Really, you should be reimbursed. You paid rent, by his rules, ect... The fire I assume was his cause. If your stuff went with it you have to be reimbursed, cause paying rent would be considered "Area of ownership", as a RENTER! Not and actual owner. So say if I was living in apartments, and some moron decides to light a fire the next room over, and hell breaks loose, I lost everything. Well... Who do you think will paY?)
  3. Simple answer: as a tenant, you are expected to carry your own renter's insurance. Nobody else is required to or in fact even able to in most cases. Your losses are your own, I'm afraid,. and you cannot sue anyone. Your landlord/roommate is not responsible because you chose to save a few dollars each month.
