Are These classic albums overrated by the Rap/Hip Hop section?
Reasonable Doubt-Jay Z Illmatic-Nas Paid in full-Eric b. and rakim The Chronic-Dr. dre Doggystyle-snoop dogg I'm just telling you now, i'm not starting beef, but i would like to know if the rappers i mentioned have any other good albums besides those i named? because everytime someone in this section brings up these rappers, they always say that their best/fav. album is the one i listed. I think people need to get for real and admit that they don't really blast these albums loud in real life. I highly doubt they would take any of those albums to a party and blast it for people to dance to. I mean, these albums are legendary, but be for real. Their over a decade old, and it would look kind of weird and stupid to blast them loud in public. And i know Reasonable doubt isn't jay z's only good album. I know it's a classic album, but it's really overrated by this section. it's the same for the other ones i listed. I just want to know if you agree with this or not.

- i listen to Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt & Paid in Full everyday but the other two arent even on my iPod, i seldom talk about them though. i honestly think that was jay-z and nas' best album. as far as eric b and rakim, that album is the only one i am familiar with from them.
- u know what...IMO doggystyle wasnt even all its cracked up to be. i like the rest though. i actually consider illmatic to be the best album ive ever heard, of ANY genre...and i listen to alotta stuff
- Reasonable Doubt-Jay Z>>>>>>>NO this is my favorite jay album...... Illmatic-Nas>>>>>>>>>>most def NOT overrated!!!!! he has had other good albums too but this is one of the greatest in hip hop period!!!! Paid in full-Eric b. and rakim>>>>>> def not but like nas there are several great albums The Chronic-Dr. dre>>>>> i dont here this being talked bout too much i dont think it was overrated.... Doggystyle-snoop dogg>>>>>>>> same as dre " "
- No, they are not overrated. JayZ had Hard Knock Life Vol. 1, the blueprint, Streets is Watching soundtrack. Nas has Stillmatic, It was written, Street's Disciple, Hip Hop is Dead (instant classic). I could go on and on about Snoop and Rakim, but here's the thing...these are these artist's most notable albums; they are legendary works, and that's why they get mentioned first. And why would it be stupid to blast them in public? Somebody said that to me once when i was listening to some old Nas. I probably would have set the record straight real quick, but this guy thought the best rapper alive was 50 Cent...all I'm sayin is blasting songs at parties doesn't equal a great body of work. Hell, Soulja boy blast at parties (need I say more?). Here's a great way to think about it: think about your favorite movie of all time, then ask yourself "What would I say if someone said 'you can't seriously think that people actually still watch these movies'!!!"
- They may be over-ratted...but they are still classics...I do have all of them albums on my ipod...and I since I keep it on shuffle occasionally one of the songs do come on...but whenever it does, none of the songs are really fast forward material...Some peeps may go over board...but they still are classics...
- Reasonable Doubt-Jay Z It's overrated, but still a classic Illmatic-Nas Same as Reasonable Doubt Paid in full-Eric b. and rakim Not overrated, but Follow the Leader doesn't get the respect it deserves in this section. The Chronic-Dr. dre It's not really as highly rated in this section as it is outside of this section so I don't think it's overrated. Doggystyle-snoop dogg I honestly don't think I've seen anyone praise Doggystyle in this section.
- not a chance. Each of those albums deserves classic status. Sure a lot of those artists turned pop, released follow up releases that were wack, but each of those albums you mentioned are in my cd collection. It is impossible for them to be called overrated as they are the debut albums by each of those artists, therefore, how can you overrate a first album when theres no work prior to compare it to?
- doggystyle is overrated, I had the album aktually. But the rest of em, i respkt they gangsta mami. Oh and u had asked what happened with my producer and THE GAME the other day. My producer was signed to Black Wall Street and GAME used him, Stole his money, took the BWS chain baq and left him in the dirt...
- mmm nah
- They're classics for a reason... However, I consider The Chronic to be one of the most oveerated albums ever.
