Can You Tell Me What Song I'm Writing About? 10 Points Awaits The Winner!?

Hello. Can you guess what song I'm talking about? I was originally an obscure French folk song written decades ago. I was heard by an American singer who liked my melody but who didn't understand the lyric. I was taken away and translated from French into English and my folk song was tidied up and presented as an English tune with French origins. I was originally recorded by the man who translated me,but I wasn't a big hit for him. I was later recorded by a big famous American singer who had been in show business for many years. I was given a full big band orchestration in 1969. In the UK,I was issued on a 45rpm record and I stayed in and out of the charts for over 2 years peaking in the top five.I came out on the owners own record label after he left Capitol Records in 1962 and set up his own record label. I can't tell you any more, but can you guess which song I am please? Thank you. P.S. Forgot to say I do know the answer though! I just want to see if anyone else can fathom it out from the clues.

  4. my way
  5. Might be 'My Way'
  6. I did it 'My Way' I got it after the first sentence you wrote!!
  7. It is 'My Way'. When David Bowie was asked to write English lyrics to the French folk song "Comme d'habitude" in 1968, the song he came up with was "Even a Fool Learns to Love." However, Paul Anka bought the rights to the original French version, and Bowie's version was never released. "Life on Mars?" was Bowie's riposte to losing out on a fortune; it has similar chords to "My Way." The original song was composed by Claude François and Jacques Revaux. Paul Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French words. Apparently, Sinatra loathed the song - a little ungrateful, given how much he must have earned from it.
