How much does the average wedding cost?
I know there are a lot of statistics on the web right now but I would rather hear how much it cost all of you married people out there. Break it down to how much the main things cost you. Use this template to list how much each thing cost you: Wedding reception site: Wedding ceremony site: Wedding cake: Photographer: Wedding Dress: Tuxedo rental: Caterer: Wedding/engagement rings: Honeymoon: Limo service: Invitations: DJ/Music: Total cost of your wedding: What other costs did you have extra? If you didn't have all of these then you can just put $0 next to the ones you didn’t have. I am trying to do research to find information about wedding costs. Anyone willing to participate would be a great help and I would really appreciate it. I just want to know how much it is costing everyone else, no matter where they live but I live in Idaho.

- As a side note, you might want to add which city/state you're in. The averages are based on the nation, but I have found a huge price difference in (for example) California versus Texas. Here in Northern CA, we're having our wedding for about $4,000 for a nice semi-formal event. We found a great hotel locally with a beautiful outdoor ceremony area and nice banquet rooms, and with their restaurant catering a nicer buffet/carving station, that came out to about $2100. *Wedding cake is supplied by a friend/baker: $100 (I'm guessing on that) - painted foam "cake" with a small bottom tier blended into it for cutting and picture purposes. Guests have choice of individual specially-made desserts and/or a candy buffet. *Excellent professional photographer friend of Matron of Honor yet has done only a couple of weddings: $500 *Dress: $380 custom made (originally $750 version) *Tuxes: Unsure yet, as we have my fiance and our son who will be over 2 at the wedding. *Jewelry: $200 - I don't need diamonds :-) *Honeymoon: Unsure, though might go to a secluded spa retreat once our guests leave after our wedding weekend. That might be a couple hundred, though they mentioned working with us on honeymoon as we almost picked them for our location but we couldn't fit all our guests there. *No limos or special vehicles as we're staying at our hotel wedding location. *Invitations: $40 - Found cute palm tree "invites in a box" (complete with return cards, envelopes for 50 invitations) at Target and I will ad a few accents to personalize it. *DJ: $350 for 4 hours, $100 every hour after.
- I have not had my wedding yet but I can tell you how much we have budgeted for our wedding next year. We are getting married Friday May 14th, 2010. It's still a long time from now but I have been doing a lot of research for the wedding and have done a lot of looking around to find good prices and to help determine how much everything will cost us. I will show you how much we are estimating it will cost us. We live in Pocatello, Idaho so this may help a lot! Wedding reception site: n/a Wedding ceremony site: $1500 Wedding cake: $200 Photographer: $1100 Wedding Dress: $1000-$1500 Tuxedo rental: $100 Caterer: $1000 Wedding/engagement rings: $7000 Honeymoon: $5000 Limo service: dont know yet Invitations: $500 DJ/Music: $650 (but we decided we are going to buy an iPod and do the music ourselves for $200) Total cost of your wedding: We are estimating the cost will come to about $20,000 to $25,000 after the wedding, rings and honeymoon. We are having a nice wedding though. Not a large one with 65-70 guests but we are booking nice things and having the better vendors. Some extra information that may help is that the reception and ceremony will be in the same location. We are not getting married in a church which I hear is super cheap, sometimes free. We are going on a week cruise to the caribbean islands and then we are going to stay in miami for a week after we finish the cruise because we couldnt find a cruise long enough and we want to take full advantage of my fiances vacation time at work. He gets 2 weeks. Our catering also costs a little more than the average wedding because we are offering steak, fish and pasta dishes that our guests can choose from and we are hiring 3 servers to attend to our guests and serve the food. So don't let my numbers scare you because you can cut the costs down with the buffet style reception or by just having drinks and snacks. An extra expense that we have that comes to mind that you did not add on this list is a videographer which will cost us $1100, the same as our photographer. I hope this information helps!
- Weddings can be whatever you want them to be. They can reach a fair amount, or a resonable amount depending on how you done things. I live in the UK and my wedding cost about £5000, give or take. That was with us saving on things, getting them cheaper, and so on. My dress, I saw for £650, found for half price on the internet. Bridesmaid dresses were from a store and altered by a friend. Cake, car and flowers paid for by in laws. About £400 The reception, food and DJ were together. About £3,000. Invites, done by a friend. £40 for supplies. Decs, about £60 in total. I done them myself. Photographer, was my uncle. No charge. The men brought their own suits, Accessories were under £100 for all. Church fees £400 Hair, Cousin is a hairdresser Make up, Sister in laws mum offered. No cost Favours, gifts. £100 about. And so on. We saved where we could, used family, friends and anyone else who could help. So it is possible to make it a reasonable wedding for limited cost. Our wedding went off with NO hitches and we didn't use proffessional florists, make up, hair, invites, table decs, seamstress. If you want to save pennies, find friends, friends of friends etc to help if they have the skills and talents Good luck
