Angie's list. It seems to me this company is just asking for lawsuits. How do they prevent fraud?
The whole concept of this site seems odd and seems as though it could be abused to hurt businesses. For instance, Let's say you own a car repair shop and people log on and say bad things about you simply because they are your competitor. The offended company could possibly sue for slander. Any experience or thoughts on this?

- i always thought angie's list was a good idea to keep people honest but i never thought of it that way. now i have to question what i've thought. you are wise.
- I would never pay for a site like that. There could be way too much fraud, as you have stated here. There are other free ways to checkout a company, like the better business bureau (www.bbb.org) where you don't have to pay a monthly fee.
- I agree it's unregulated and if it is regulated I would like to see the standards they use for their list. I would like to know how substantial the standards are and who is responsible for them. I don't see how they prevent fraud and I think you may have a valid point in your question.
- I run a business and I ignore Angie's list. I think most legitimate businesses do the same.
