I understand Angie's List and Service Magic are not reliable. Is there a more reliable contractor referral service around?

1. Ask your neighbors and friends. Watch which AC service trucks are in the neighborhood the most... Then check out the contenders yourself - call them up and ask for prices and schedule info for service on your particular A/C unit. Then, go with your gut feeling after interviewing them... The guys that sub contract under Home depot are usually very good because if you're not happy, you bitch at Home Depot, they do not pay the contractor. The contractor has been thoroughly checked out by "Homer"
